Even though your family and friends may follow the Atkins, Sugar Busters, South Beach, or Himalayan (an actual diet) eating regimens, you're concerned about binge eating, roller-coaster weight loss, and all those New Year's resolutions to eat only (fill in the blank) this year because your doctor said so.

If you feel like an oddball, cheer up: Healthy Weight Week is just around the corner. From January 18-24, the Healthy Weight Network wants you to think about starving yourself versus overeating. Anorexia doesn't make sense, nor does the obesity problem widely (no pun intended) acknowledged in the media. But there may be another solution. Your weight alone doesn't determine your overall health. Remember that as you toss out your diet books on January 20, Rid the World of Fad Diets & Gimmicks Day

And if you're a woman tired of the yo-yo celebrity weight game, January 22, Women's Healthy Weight Day, is the time to decide what is healthy for you.

It's not only the fad diets and the weight-loss industry that confronts you. The experts have "new" advice coming out, which sounds so much like...common sense. In our Tips this month, we explore the "new" wisdom.
